Start your premliminary keyword
research - after defining your core keywords you can start
the preliminary keyword research to find the actual words that are
being typed into the search engines. The aim of the preliminary research is to assemble the base of the keywords with the highest potential. Once you have your list of keyphrases you can use them for two main purposes. 1.) Pay Per Click,
you can bid on the phrases in the pay
per click search engines; this is a very effective way to get cheap
targeted
traffic to your website very quickly. The idea here is to build a large list so that you can find niches, phrases with little or no competition; this will reduce your cost per click. Keyphrase
Analyzer is a very good software tool which will
help you find niche keyphrase by finding out how many other
sites are optimised for a phrase, how may advertisers are
biding for the phrase, how much they are paying and even their Ad copy.

course you can bid on the generic phrases, as the volume of searches

you know what people are actually typing into the search engines you
can build
your web pages optimised for the phrases. The
idea here to begin with is to try and target less competitive phrases
that
receive a high enough number of searches to make it worthwhile is not
worth
targeting a phrase if nobody or only a small amount of people is
searching for
it. Of
course when your site is more established you can go after the more
competitive
key phrases. Part of the search engines algorithm is link popularity (how many inbound links your web pages have). The logic is the more links you have to your page the more important the page is as other web sites are linking to you because of your high value or unique content. Please note it is recommended to optimise each page with no more that 3 phrases however the LoudMouse prefers to use two, see the LoudMouse Guide to Web Page Optimisation. Check Out The Competition First: Check out the competition for each phrase you are considering before deciding on the phrases to optimise a web page.
You can repeat
this process until you find a selection of key phrases that are
relevant to
your web pages with realistically achievable number of inbound links,

you must also check the volume of searches for each key phrase, it is
not worth
taking the time to build good content and inbound links for a phrase
that
receives a small amount of searches unless the potential ROI high
enough i.e.
the product you are selling generates enough profit to justify the time
and
effort you have put in. Lots of other
factors come into play when analysing the competition for key phrases. For example; the
amount of times the phrase is used in the inbound linking text, in the
description surrounding the links, the page rank of linking partners,
and the theme
of linking partners sites to name a few, click here to learn more Advanced
